Romance Eternelle Virtual Book Tour

About the Book

A young woman in France finds her heart broken and seeks solace from her sister. Reluctantly seeking help from a monk, she has an unusual dining experience. He discloses a tale that feels like a veil being lifted from her eyes. Involving a prostitute and a priest, this story captivates and entices the young lady. The otherworldly descriptions of grace and the Holy Spirit prove to be her undoing, challenging what she thought she already knew. Her intimacy lost proves to be a doorway to that which often people can only dream.

Rarely is there a book that inspires one to the Divine that doesn't involve work and discipline of some sort. As an unusual Christian romance novel, this story opens the reader to a mode of following God that seems almost too good and too easy to be true. As this allegory unfolds, a mystical reality birthed in earliest Christianity is illuminated, drawing attention to the origin of true love, grace and the promised freedom we all desire. Monks and nuns, the Catholic church and even Protestants have at times attested to such ecstasy. Freedom and joy is often elusive though, as struggle, work and sin seem to be unnecessarily common amongst many of us. The world often sees only hypocrisy. The ache for real freedom and fulfillment has never been more apparent.

About the Author

Lawrence Miquelon is actually first and foremost a registered nurse. He has a wife and grown children, and has been working in the Intensive Care Unit with children for about twenty years. He grew up in the presence of a number of ministries, and continues to participate in missions together with his family and friends. He was raised in Southern California and enjoys nature and long distance barefoot running. Having been raised his entire life in the church, he saw the shortcomings in his life and others that are all too common. Something personal, deeply spiritual and simple happened in himself and his family. He felt compelled to write a book that illustrates a level of intimate spirituality that seems almost too good to be true and is occurring to ordinary people today. He explains, "It's as though I have stumbled upon a hidden treasure of which only a small percentage of believers are aware. The book I've written is a portal into that treasure."

Book Of The Day: What Does A Real MAN Look Like? by Enrique Pascal

In today’s world, relationships are under fire. As a result, the smoke is causing so much damage to our homes and ultimately our children. Think about how many separations and divorces are played out in the media. Think about how our family members and friends are no longer with the person of their dreams. What happened to the love? The fire has repositioned the man, and in turn, the fire has repositioned the woman and children. This book is the water to the fire and the realignment that many relationships are in need of having. In this book, I address any and all issues that we all face in our relationships, and every chapter is “THE” solution to the issues. Also, I explain the struggles that I had in my relationship and my victories as well. God has helped me to dissect the most difficult relationship of all time and make sense of it all. “What Does A Real MAN Look Like” helps both the man and the woman in understanding their role in their relationship and how to work as a team in order to accomplish all that God has for you and your mate. Are you ready to experience your relationship on another level? Are you ready to become the man or woman who God has designed you to be?

BLESSINGS & MIRACLES A Memoir of a Teen Mom Turned Millionaire by Shashicka Tyre-Hill

Success can have many definitions, but ask the people who have obtained it and they will say, “I never gave up.” In BLESSINGS & MIRACLES (June 2013; ISBN: 978-0-9893682-0-9; $15.00) A MEMOIR, Shashicka Tyre-Hill shares how life didn’t begin in the best of circumstances. At the tender age of four she witnessed her mother and father arguing over him wanting to take food from the family refrigerator and sell it to feed his drug habit. Shashicka’s emotional outburst in response to her parent’s quarreling landed the young girl in the Savannah Regional Mental Facility. This was the moment that forced her parent’s separation. Things got much worst before they got better. After becoming pregnant at the age of fourteen, there were not many who would have given Shashicka much of a chance in life, but that was not the way Shashicka saw it. From the time she was young, she knew God had a greater purpose and with determination and dedication, she worked hard to find what God had for her.

Although the road was filled with bumps, including sexual advances from her mom’s boyfriend, to almost losing her child to the system and landing on public assistance to survive as a teen mom, Shashicka finally found her passion— caring for the sick and shut-in.

BLESSINGS & MIRACLES is a moving memoir that will have readers cheering for a young Shashicka as if they knew her. And upon finishing the story, readers will come to realize they do know her. She is the young girl standing at the bus stop, the young boy getting into mischief on the street corner, the kids loitering in the park or cutting class at school. Shashicka represents the battle and triumph of so many children of color who find themselves being raised in single parent homes, forced to grow up too fast, too soon.

“When I was fifteen, and I had my baby and my mother told me to leave her house I believe God had abandoned me. As I was walking in the streets, I was thinking that no one cared about me; I didn’t really have anywhere to go. I cried out to God asking Him why? Why would he do this to me? Why did it have to happen to me? I felt totally alone and I thought that God had forgotten about me — but just for a moment. I had a couple more moments of, “Why me, God!” like when I almost lost my daughter. I really questioned God a lot then, especially while I was locked up. I didn’t understand why when I was doing everything right, when I was working so hard, why I had to go through all of this. But though I questioned God, He was always there.”

Fortunately for her, the opposition allowed her to find passion early in life. A light touch from a caring person can leave a lasting impression and after caring for her ailing grandmother, Shashicka turned her compassion for the sick and shut-in into a career that has not only given her a wonderful life, but has helped others to thrive.

Shashicka’s accounts of her early years force readers to think about the obstacles before them and re-adjust before throwing in the towel. Through her life readers will come to see that the problems we face are often the mental and emotional workout needed to strengthen us for the journey to destiny. Readers will find inspiration as they witness a young girl’s enduring will to succeed, the daunting pursuit to find lasting love and the quest for entrepreneurship.

“When I look back over my life today, I see that there were plenty of times I had to stretch my faith, but the major time for me was when I just couldn’t get my license. Having to do that three times was a lot. And the lady who was responsible for giving me the license spoke such negativity into my life. I remember crying so hard, that I couldn’t even speak. Then, I talked to my mom and she helped me to stretch my faith. That was when I went back for the third time. And, I did it!”

At the age of 21, Shashicka was a married mother of two who had become the youngest person in the country to obtain a home health care license. She started her first business Miracle Health Care in Brunswick, GA. Today she has seven locations in the state of Georgia. BLESSINGS & MIRACLES offers a uniquely personal, deeply intimate look into the complicated past of a teen mom and her will to succeed.

Each chapter of this memoir carries the reader from tragedy to triumph, as this young girl grows into a woman—a successful business woman, despite numerous setbacks.

Get to know Shashicka:

What made you decide to share your story with others?

I want people to know that you can do it no matter what.

In the book, you mention an elderly client, Mrs. Duggins, who showed you how to budget. The book doesn’t mention her again after you leave her employment. To satisfy my own curiosity, did the two of you continue to communicate? Did she give you any business advice?

Yes I did keep in touch with her she passed in 2009 and she taught me the most important part of business and that was how to budget the money that the business was making.

You are very candid about your marital problems in the book. Divorce is extremely prevalent these days. What made you stay even though you knew your husband was cheating?

At the time my main concern was trying to get my business stated and taking care on my kids. There were times in I relationship that I feel as a wife I didn’t allow him to be a man, when we got married we were very young and did understand our duties as husband and wife. A lot of times in a relationship we look at thing one sided, there was things that I did that wasn’t right I never cheated but I took his man hood by not allowing him to be a man of his house. When a person feel like they aren’t needed they look to get that feeling from somewhere else. I really don’t believe in divorcing at all I feel that we all make mistakes.

You have accomplished quite a bit at a young age. Do you have any programs that help mentor current or future entrepreneurs or individuals who want to get into the home health care field?

No I don’t have a program, I do business coaching I will teach both men and women what I’ve learned over my 12 years of being in business, I have helped over 8-10 people who wanted to start a business get started that they are all doing wonderful.

Besides promoting your book, what else are you working on?

Franchising Miracle Home Care, Starting my 2 location for my Adult Day Care in Savannah GA as well as doing Motivational Speaking and Business Coaching

How can people get your book and connect with you?

Book Excerpt

PROLOGUE

Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you. Before you were born, I set you apart for my holy purpose...I appointed you to be a prophet to the nations. ~Jeremiah 1:5

“I’d like to make an appointment...for an abortion.”

Desperation and shame filled my voice, and I hoped the lady on the other end didn’t know me or my parents.

“How many weeks are you? When was your last period?” The lady on the other end asks, seemingly not surprised, sounding more annoyed than anything else. I gave her the dates she requested, asking “How much will that cost?”

Annoyed sigh. “You are fourteen-and-a-half weeks. Well, the process will be much longer because you are further along, but it will be $375 total.”

“Do you take Medicaid?”

“Yes.”

“When can I come in?

“Tuesday at 8 a.m.

“Do I need to bring anything?”

“Just your money, or Medicaid card, proof of pregnancy. And a ride home.”

I hung up and looked at my boyfriend. How were we going to afford that? We could barely afford to take care of our eleven month old son, the child I had had less than a year ago at age seventeen. “It’s cool.” He told me. “My sister has Medicaid. We can use her card. You just use her name and info.”

BOOK OF THE DAY: Delicious Destiny by Yahrah St. John

Delicious Destiny
by Yahrah St. John

Sweet Secrets

It has been almost five years since Shari Drayson graduated college-almost five years since she had her heart broken. Now the only man in her life is her cherished son, Andre. But her life is full, and her family's bakery is about to appear in a baking competition on national TV. Who needs love when you've got pastries?

Sweetest Seduction

When Grant Robinson finally tracks Shari down in Chicago, he expects she will still be beautiful. He expects she will still be smart. What he doesn't expect is her four-year-old son-who looks exactly like him. The wealthy restaurateur is stunned, and his anger wars with passion for the woman he has never truly forgotten. Determined to claim what is his, Grant insists they marry at once. But his bride soon realizes she's at risk for another heartbreak. Can Grant's skillful form of persuasion change her mind and convince her that his love is all she really needs?

FEATURED AUTHOR: Cedric Mixon

Cedric Mixon, born in St. Louis, MO now residing in Philadelphia, PA is the executive producer of two feature films, one short film and a web series. He is the Writer, Director and Executive Producer of "Under the Cherry Tree", feature film and web series, which is available in Walmart stores nationwide and online.

Mixon is the author of "Under the Cherry Tree", "Lost Letters", "Boldly Walking Naked", and "Soul Mates". Poetry from "Lost Letters" has been featured in Essence Magazine. He also published a line of Spiritual Journals and has published his debut novel, "Under the Cherry Tree".

“Under the Cherry Tree” is a Christian fictional story that follows the book of Job. In the book, Kevin must demonstrate faith but more importantly, forgiveness. He and his wife, Tonya, run a successful apartment building and share a wonderful life together. Tonya fights with ghosts of the past while Kevin’s brother, Redd, fights internal demons. Redd single-handedly destroys their future and their happiness when he accidentally sets the building on fire. Kevin races to find another source of income as the stress builds and ultimately causes him to turn away from the church. After losing it all, his job, his marriage and the only family that he knows, Kevin, finds himself in a lonely place where love can not be found and silence replaces God’s voice. His restoration is dependent upon his ability to pray for everyone around him when he is the one who has hit rock bottom.

BLOG TOUR: Madeline’s Protector Virtual Book Tour

Tell us about Madeline’s Protector.

Madeline's Protector is a Christian Regency. The romantic novel is set in 1800's England and tells the story of two strangers, a reforming rake and sheltered but devout duke's daughter, who is forced to marry to save their families' honor. They must learn to trust each other in order to stop the evil, which threatens all they hold dear. The book is filled with danger, suspicion, and romance.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

It was a dream I had in high school that I wrote as a short story in a diary. I think I had just overdosed on Pride and Prejudice's movies and a reading assignment for Jane Austen's Emma. A few years ago, I found that diary and started plotting and developing the tale into a full-length story.

Did you have to do quite a bit of research for this book?

Lots and lots of research. My website, http://www.christianregency.com showcases a portion of my notes. I had to research fashions, etiquette, and prevalent beliefs of the time. One fatal flaw for a historical writer is to assume present day motivations existed back then. For the most part, they did not. It would be wrong to dress ladies up in corsets and walking gowns and expect them to grouse about not having the right to vote or not having a career. You have to immerse yourself in the period and its conventions. For me learning about the Regency, is a labor of love.

What do you hope readers will learn/discover from reading fill-in your book title?

I hope readers will see in Madeline's and Justain's journey, that despite the circumstances God has a plan for their lives. He will work all things for the good, who love and trust Him. Reader should also be reminded approval should not come from man but the God who made them.

Okay, a not-so-fun question. How important are reviews to you as a writer?

Speaking of approvals…. Reviews are important because these comments are written by motivated readers who took the time to express an opinion. A writer can see what things made an impression, what folks liked, and even what annoyed the readers.

Nonetheless, not all reviews are created equally. Some of my writer friends go into therapy to recover from hit pieces written by people who hate Christian books, loathe the writer's style, or for some reason wish for plagues to consume the writer. Ok, I'm exaggerating, but a bad review can make a writer feel as if someone just called her baby ugly. In this business, one has to grow a thick skin.

The most helpful reviews point out specifics, good or bad. Trust me, a writer will remember all fair critiques when he starts his next book.

Thank you for hosting me.

About the Book

If all the young men of England leapt off a cliff, Madeline St. James wouldn't care. Then she'd have peace. Her nightmares of courtship would end, and she'd cozy up with a Psalm in her aunt's quiet sculpture garden.

Yet, a chance meeting and a bullet wound change everything, and Madeline must trust the Good Shepherd has led her to the altar to marry a dashing stranger, Lord Devonshire.

Death and pain are no strangers to Justain Delveaux, Lord Devonshire, and he vows his dutiful bride will be kept safe and in her place. Though this compromised marriage is in-name-only, his wife and her unwavering faith both intrigue and allure him. Perchance when he thwarts his brother's killer, Justain will tempt the unpredictable Madeline with the comfort of his arms.

But can Madeline and the stubborn earl forge a true bond before the next disaster strikes?

About the Author

The Regency and Victorian eras have always been a magnetizing draw for Vanessa Riley. Even as she worked to complete her doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, she made time for renaissance fairs and any novel or cinematographic work depicting these genteel societies of old. Perhaps, the attraction arises from the kinship she feels with the period being brought up in the restrictive Southern Bible Belt with its stringent definitions of decent behavior and life expectations. Perhaps the common dominator to this appeal is her own thirty day Christian courtship or even the arranged marriages of her uncles; each is emblematic of the nuptials of those earlier times.

A technology muse like Dr. Vanessa Riley is probably not the immediate choice to write about haute ton English society set in the 1800's. With her most recent published work being "Reducing Deformation by Phase Manipulation," the common visceral reaction is that Providence has given another mule a voice to tell His story. Nevertheless, this mule uses her determined spirit and dogmatic tenacity to master the subject and to discover the hidden nuances of a character making him believable, her human and both ready to be used of God.

Vanessa holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering and a masters in industrial engineering and engineering management from Stanford University. She also earned BS and MS in mechanical engineering from Penn State University. She has been a radio anchorwoman and church announcer. She is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers Association and Romance Writers of America.

Today, Vanessa juggles mothering an eight year old, her seventeenth wedding anniversary, engineering, writing and speaking at women's events. She is known for her humorous delivery of poignant truths. Vanessa is currently, editor in chief of an online social network, www.busymama.net.

LOVING DAY BLOG HOP

 photo NewPicture-4_zps031941ab.png

Today SORMAG is hosting a blog hop in honor of Loving Day. This blog hop is in celebration to mark the U.S. Supreme Court's landmark decision in Loving vs.Virginia, which struck down anti-miscegenation laws in the United States.

Read more about Richard and Mildred Loving who marriage changed the world.

http://life.time.com/history/richard-and-mildred-loving-grey-villet-photos-1966/?iid=lb-gal-viewagn#1

SORMAG promotes books so in that tradition. We would like to introduce you to three interracial romances.

Rendezvous with Danger
Sharon C. Cooper

Alandra Pargas, ex-CIA counter-intelligence officer, plans to wreak vengeance on the people who tried to kill her. A little rendezvous with danger is not what scares her, though. It’s seeing the tall, dark, and dangerously sexy man she vowed to love forever that has her running for cover.

Former U.S. Special Operative, Quinn Hamilton, left the world of covert operations after the love of his life died in his arms during a black op. Three years later, he still loses sleep wondering if maybe he could have done something more to save her – until Alandra shows up on his doorstep. With her lies and betrayal, he wants nothing to do with her, yet, his heart won’t cooperate. It’s not until unknown enemies come after her that he must decide if he can leave the past behind and protect the woman he’ll always love. Will they survive this last mission and rekindle the love and passion they once shared?

Worth Waiting
Delaney Diamond

Julia Newman doesn’t have time for love. Been there, done that, and she’s got the scars to prove it. Instead, she’s focused on her career. For the past few years, she has been living the life she wants. She drives a silver Mercedes, just purchased a four bedroom house in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, and she’s on her way to becoming the youngest female partner in the history of the venture capitalist firm where she works. Life couldn’t be better. Or so she thought.

Frederico “Freddie” Mendoza is the owner of Mendoza Construction. He hasn’t given up on love, but he is fed up with women who are fascinated by the fantasy of being with a blue collar man and then relegate him to a certain part of their lives. His newest customer, Julia Newman, is the kind of woman he’s decided he’ll avoid from now on. He needs to work on expanding his business. Besides, she’s not his type. Or so he thought.

Voice of Abandon or, The Princess and the Violinist
Rae Lori

His music inspired her to live again. His heart inspired her to love again.

After losing her husband to a fatal heart condition, Her Serene Highness Julianna DeWinters falls into a depression. She lives her life on auto pilot, making preparations and setting things in order for her country but not for herself. On one particular evening night out to a classical concert assisted by her in-laws, Julianna hears the most beautiful sound that awakens her to life once again. The violinist’s passion through his music not only livens her will but also her heart as she finds the ability to love. If she allows herself the possibility...

Andrew Graham never settled down and loved again after losing the love of his life. Throwing himself into his music, he fuels his passion through the strings of his violin. Once he stops in Welshire to play for the royal family, a beautiful princess captures his interest and his heart. Soon he finds himself on the edge of a romance that will test his ability to trust and love once again. Voice of Abandon or, The Princess and the Violinist is a sweet, classical novella that proves life and love can begin after loss. Especially when you least expect it.

Note from LaShaunda - One of my favorite romantic movies is Something New. The perfect interracial love story.  Check it out if you haven't seen it before.

Kenya McQueen (Sanaa Lathan) thought she had it all: a successful career, good friends and family. There was just one thing she didn't have under control: her love life. All that changes when she meets sexy, free-spirited Brian Kelly (Simon Baker). But when her ideal man (Blair Underwood) arrives on the scene, Kenya must decide between the relationship everyone expects and the romance no one expected.

BOOK OF THE DAY: Will Work For Food by Ruthie Robinson

A decade can be a long time in the life of a person -- more than enough time to recover from the loss of someone you loved. Lucas Quinn sure hoped so. He’d loved Sirena — crazy loved her — in that my-soul-mate-forever-after kind of love way, and it failed. Big-time failed. No worries, though, he moved on and out to California, restarted his life, started his company, and now he’s hugely successful, engaged to be married, and back in Austin, Texas. Finally, it’s time to make amends, to put his past behind him, to right a wrong, so that his future can be his own. Sirena Wilson is the co- founder for Will Work For Food, a non-profit that supports the homeless population in and around Austin. It’s her life, and she’s proud of it. It’s safe and comfortable, complete with girlfriends — so what if they are all over the age of seventy? It’s where she belongs—on the shelf—right along with them. She has her career, her little old lady friends to take care of, and they in turn take care of her. It’s enough, right? She’s been there and done that with the love thing, travelled that path before, and all it did was leave her alone and hurt. No way was she ever going back to that period in her life. But now Lucas is back in town, bringing with him all those old, not-so-buried hurts, along with her not-so-buried, long ago love for him, making her question everything. Again.

Ruthie Robinson resides in Austin, TX with her husband and two teenage children. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Clark College and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Texas in Austin (Hook ‘em horns!). She worked for more than a decade in the banking industry before turning her love of stories into a second career.
