Women’s History Month Blog Tour with Dawn McCoy

Celebrate Women in Leadership Series
with Dawn McCoy

During the month of March 2010,
Dawn McCoy, author of Leadership Building Blocks will highlight great women in leadership during Women’s History Month.

LaShaunda, thank you for allowing me to be a guest blogger today at Shades of Romance Magazine Reviews. Today, in the Celebrate Women in Leadership series, I want to highlight Dr. Christiane Northrup.

Dr. Christiane Northrup, MD is a pioneer in the field of women’s health and author of the New York Times best-selling book Women’s Bodies, Women’s Wisdom. Her #1 New York Times bestseller. Her prolific writing has been a great influence to me in many ways. She greatly influenced my writing and perspectives to focus on commitment to balance, one of the fundamentals I discuss in my book Leadership Building Blocks: An Insider's Guide to Success.

A board–certified obstetrician/gynecologist with over 25 years of clinical and medical teaching experience, Dr. Northrup is the past president of the American Holistic Medical Association. What I most appreciate about Dr. Northrup is her perspective about the need for a partnership between conventional and complementary medicine. Her focus on balance is that we must re-think what we’ve learned about the female body. She teaches that we can each tap our potential to be healthy in the broadest sense of the word only when we understand the unity of our minds, emotions, spirits, and physical bodies.

Dr. Northrup’s writing is an essential component for women leaders today to focus on self-care and also on crisis–intervention medicine and prevention strategies. She been committed to wellness and helping women change their lives to achieve option health on all levels.
