BOOK OF THE DAY: Otherwise Engaged by Nicole Green

Playboy Rain Foster is nowhere near ready to settle down, but if there's one woman he would make that sacrifice for, it's Carolina Perez. When Carolina tells Rain she's getting married, he decides he must find a way to stop that wedding.

Overly cautious Daphne Moore has had a thing for Rain Foster since she first saw him at college freshman orientation. However, she's learned to be careful with her heart when it comes to guys--especially guys like Rain. Besides, Rain has always had his eye--and more--on their other friend, Carolina. When Rain asks to be Daphne's date to Carolina's wedding, Daphne knows saying yes will lead to big trouble. Still, she's never been good at saying no to Rain.

After Daphne makes a huge mistake with Rain, she avoids him for the sake of her own sanity. She shouldn't have done what she did because she knows Rain is and always will be a womanizer. Rain can't get Daphne out of his system. For the first time in his life, Rain is turning into an absolute mess because of a woman. Then comes another first for Rain: he finds himself chasing a woman.

Kevin races to find another source of income as the stress builds and ultimately causes him to turn away from the church. After losing it all, his job, his marriage and the only family that he knows, Kevin, finds himself in a lonely place where love can not be found and silence replaces God’s voice. BLOG TOUR: Madeline’s Protector Virtual Book Tour

Tell us about Madeline’s Protector.

Madeline's Protector is a Christian Regency. The romantic novel is set in 1800's England and tells the story of two strangers, a reforming rake and sheltered but devout duke's daughter, who is forced to marry to save their families' honor. They must learn to trust each other in order to stop the evil, which threatens all they hold dear. The book is filled with danger, suspicion, and romance.

How did you come up with ideas for this book?

It was a dream I had in high school that I wrote as a short story in a diary. I think I had just overdosed on Pride and Prejudice's movies and a reading assignment for Jane Austen's Emma. A few years ago, I found that diary and started plotting and developing the tale into a full-length story.

Did you have to do quite a bit of research for this book?

Lots and lots of research. My website, http://www.christianregency.com showcases a portion of my notes. I had to research fashions, etiquette, and prevalent beliefs of the time. One fatal flaw for a historical writer is to assume present day motivations existed back then. For the most part, they did not. It would be wrong to dress ladies up in corsets and walking gowns and expect them to grouse about not having the right to vote or not having a career. You have to immerse yourself in the period and its conventions. For me learning about the Regency, is a labor of love.

What do you hope readers will learn/discover from reading fill-in your book title?

I hope readers will see in Madeline's and Justain's journey, that despite the circumstances God has a plan for their lives. He will work all things for the good, who love and trust Him. Reader should also be reminded approval should not come from man but the God who made them.

Okay, a not-so-fun question. How important are reviews to you as a writer?

Speaking of approvals…. Reviews are important because these comments are written by motivated readers who took the time to express an opinion. A writer can see what things made an impression, what folks liked, and even what annoyed the readers.

Nonetheless, not all reviews are created equally. Some of my writer friends go into therapy to recover from hit pieces written by people who hate Christian books, loathe the writer's style, or for some reason wish for plagues to consume the writer. Ok, I'm exaggerating, but a bad review can make a writer feel as if someone just called her baby ugly. In this business, one has to grow a thick skin.

The most helpful reviews point out specifics, good or bad. Trust me, a writer will remember all fair critiques when he starts his next book.

Thank you for hosting me.

About the Book

If all the young men of England leapt off a cliff, Madeline St. James wouldn't care. Then she'd have peace. Her nightmares of courtship would end, and she'd cozy up with a Psalm in her aunt's quiet sculpture garden.

Yet, a chance meeting and a bullet wound change everything, and Madeline must trust the Good Shepherd has led her to the altar to marry a dashing stranger, Lord Devonshire.

Death and pain are no strangers to Justain Delveaux, Lord Devonshire, and he vows his dutiful bride will be kept safe and in her place. Though this compromised marriage is in-name-only, his wife and her unwavering faith both intrigue and allure him. Perchance when he thwarts his brother's killer, Justain will tempt the unpredictable Madeline with the comfort of his arms.

But can Madeline and the stubborn earl forge a true bond before the next disaster strikes?

About the Author

The Regency and Victorian eras have always been a magnetizing draw for Vanessa Riley. Even as she worked to complete her doctorate in Mechanical Engineering, she made time for renaissance fairs and any novel or cinematographic work depicting these genteel societies of old. Perhaps, the attraction arises from the kinship she feels with the period being brought up in the restrictive Southern Bible Belt with its stringent definitions of decent behavior and life expectations. Perhaps the common dominator to this appeal is her own thirty day Christian courtship or even the arranged marriages of her uncles; each is emblematic of the nuptials of those earlier times.

A technology muse like Dr. Vanessa Riley is probably not the immediate choice to write about haute ton English society set in the 1800's. With her most recent published work being "Reducing Deformation by Phase Manipulation," the common visceral reaction is that Providence has given another mule a voice to tell His story. Nevertheless, this mule uses her determined spirit and dogmatic tenacity to master the subject and to discover the hidden nuances of a character making him believable, her human and both ready to be used of God.

Vanessa holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering and a masters in industrial engineering and engineering management from Stanford University. She also earned BS and MS in mechanical engineering from Penn State University. She has been a radio anchorwoman and church announcer. She is a member of the American Christian Fiction Writers Association and Romance Writers of America.

Today, Vanessa juggles mothering an eight year old, her seventeenth wedding anniversary, engineering, writing and speaking at women's events. She is known for her humorous delivery of poignant truths. Vanessa is currently, editor in chief of an online social network, www.busymama.net.

Sharon C. Cooper

Alandra Pargas, ex-CIA counter-intelligence officer, plans to wreak vengeance on the people who tried to kill her. A little rendezvous with danger is not what scares her, though. It’s seeing the tall, dark, and dangerously sexy man she vowed to love forever that has her running for cover.

Former U.S. Special Operative, Quinn Hamilton, left the world of covert operations after the love of his life died in his arms during a black op. Three years later, he still loses sleep wondering if maybe he could have done something more to save her – until Alandra shows up on his doorstep. With her lies and betrayal, he wants nothing to do with her, yet, his heart won’t cooperate. It’s not until unknown enemies come after her that he must decide if he can leave the past behind and protect the woman he’ll always love. Worth Waiting
Delaney Diamond

Julia Newman doesn’t have time for love. Been there, done that, and she’s got the scars to prove it. Instead, she’s focused on her career. For the past few years, she has been living the life she wants. She drives a silver Mercedes, just purchased a four bedroom house in a suburb of Atlanta, Georgia, and she’s on her way to becoming the youngest female partner in the history of the venture capitalist firm where she works. Life couldn’t be better. Or so she thought.

Frederico “Freddie” Mendoza is the owner of Mendoza Construction. He hasn’t given up on love, but he is fed up with women who are fascinated by the fantasy of being with a blue collar man and then relegate him to a certain part of their lives. His newest customer, Julia Newman, is the kind of woman he’s decided he’ll avoid from now on. He needs to work on expanding his business. Besides, she’s not his type. Or so he thought.

BOOK OF THE DAY: Will Work For Food by Ruthie Robinson

A decade can be a long time in the life of a person -- more than enough time to recover from the loss of someone you loved. Lucas Quinn sure hoped so. He’d loved Sirena — crazy loved her — in that my-soul-mate-forever-after kind of love way, and it failed. Big-time failed. No worries, though, he moved on and out to California, restarted his life, started his company, and now he’s hugely successful, engaged to be married, and back in Austin, Texas. Finally, it’s time to make amends, to put his past behind him, to right a wrong, so that his future can be his own. Sirena Wilson is the co- founder for Will Work For Food, a non-profit that supports the homeless population in and around Austin. It’s her life, and she’s proud of it. It’s safe and comfortable, complete with girlfriends — so what if they are all over the age of seventy? It’s where she belongs—on the shelf—right along with them. She has her career, her little old lady friends to take care of, and they in turn take care of her. It’s enough, right? She’s been there and done that with the love thing, travelled that path before, and all it did was leave her alone and hurt. No way was she ever going back to that period in her life. But now Lucas is back in town, bringing with him all those old, not-so-buried hurts, along with her not-so-buried, long ago love for him, making her question everything. Again.

Ruthie Robinson resides in Austin, TX with her husband and two teenage children. She holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Clark College and a master’s degree in economics from the University of Texas in Austin (Hook ‘em horns!). She worked for more than a decade in the banking industry before turning her love of stories into a second career.

FEATURED AUTHOR: Daryl Mckeever

Author Daryl Mckeever wrote "Sick and Tired” in hopes to challenge the reader and invite introspection.

Known as a Motivator, his social conscious propelled him to author this short work ("Sick & Tired") in an attempt to “Make a Change" in the African American Community.

With a back ground in Psychology, matriculating at Rutgers University, he came back to his home town of Philadelphia and put his hands to the plow as an educator, administrator and counselor. Daryl served as Principal of the Lutheran High School before working in Foster Care and Suicide Prevention through social service agencies as well as Temple University.

“Sick and Tired of Sick and Tired”: preparing Black women for Change!

An inspiring and riveting short work designed to evoke and convince today’s Black Woman that she is a “True Value” with limitless potential. “Sick and Tired” gives a realistic and at times “in your face” account to the downfalls of the black community in America. Black women are forced to ask themselves, “Can I be Greater”, as they are tested and probed in every chapter. Black men of all ages will find themselves challenged as they either find that they are part of the problem or need to be part of the solution, in a Black American Culture that is driven by historical negativity and urban street culture madness. “In this game called life, are Black men injured on the sideline while Black women attempt to lead the team to victory? And if so, is it by design or by default”?

Author Daryl Mckeever (Motivational Speaker and Counselor) challenges the reader in an attempt to provoke introspection and inward debate. No bars are held as he brings the challenge straight, simplistic and sometimes raw.

Get to know Tori:

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

Well I’m 14 years old, a current freshman in high school. I’m an aspiring actress, an author, a pageant girl, entrepreneur and motivational speaker with Young Black Minds. I have my own foundation, Tori Turner’s D.R.E.A.M. BIG Foundation and I also started my own company last year, T Star Entertainment which is a full service entertainment and promotion company. I like to promote and host safe, clean, fun events for tweens and teens in New Orleans. Currently I am promoting my 1st book with Delphine Publications along with getting prepared for my upcoming book tour. I am also working on my second book, which will be the first installment of my first book series.

Your new book “When I Decided to D.R.E.A.M. BIG” releases May 7th, how exciting!

Tell us what sparked this book and what it is about.

“I am super excited!” The book coming out is extremely exciting because I never thought that I would actually write my own book AND have it published, especially at my age. Now I’m hooked and can’t wait to finish my next one! I have always read a lot and thought about writing a book, but that was as far as I got, until now! What made me want to write this very inspirational book is during my reign I did motivational speaking all over my state at different places got some great feedback on the information I was sharing. The young girls really seemed to connect with me and they would email me questions and ask when I was coming back. One of the mothers said “you should put this in a book!” I talked to my Mom about it but at the time she didn’t know how to help me. “Now this gets interesting….” My next booking was to speak at a youth empowerment event for the Bayou Soul Writers & Readers conference which is held every year the day before Essence Festival begins in New Orleans, LA. Not only did I get to speak, but I also met lots of authors and publishers and began to ask questions. I picked up a business card from on of the authors; who is now my publisher, Ms. Tamika Newhouse of Delphine Publications, and the rest is history in the making. When I Decided to D.R.E.A.M. BIG is about dreaming big of course, thinking positive, speaking positive on you life, and keeping God first while doing it.

You are such an inspiration and quite successful at such a young age, you must have a great support system! Who inspires you daily?

Thank you for the compliment! I have an awesome support system. My parents work very hard to help my little sister Lexi and I reach our dreams. I am really blessed. Of course God is my ultimate daily inspiration, but I am also really inspired by my little sister. When I look at her, I see all of the little girls that will potentially look up to me and it makes me want to be a good person. I don’t always make the best choices, but I am trying to be the best role model I can be. How do your balance highschool along with your road appearances?

It’s not easy I can tell you that, but for the most part I usually do most of my appearances on weekends when I can and during the summer. The summer is when I am the busiest because I have no school. During the school year the main focus is my grades; my Mom doesn’t play when it comes to my grades. I may have a few appearances here and there but nothing major.

You apply emphasis on DREAM. Tell us what that means and how it developed?

D.R.E.A.M. is an acronym and it stands for Divinely, Revealed, Enterprises, through Anointing, to Manifestation. Let’s break it down: “Divinely Revealed” – staying in submission to God’s will and in constant prayer, he will reveal things to you; “Enterprises” – business opportunities; “through Anointing” – revealed during prayer time, from dream or vision to….; “to Manifestation” – to…..REALITY! What that means is that you should always keep God first in everything that you do and whenever you dream, dream bigger than big and he will direct your path. This acronym was revealed to my Mom during a church revival and she wrote it down in her note pad. God gave her the vision that he would reveal different business enterprises to our family in due season. The first was the creation of my non-profit foundation, Tori Turner’s D.R.E.A.M BIG Foundation. For me D.R.E.A.M. merges dreaming with spirituality and acts as a reminder that it all comes from God.

What advice do you have for teen girls passionate or even anxious about achieving their dreams?

My first advice is to always keep God first. I learned this when I was little, but I had to learn it again recently. It is very easy to get caught up in pursuing what you want and leave God out, but I have learned that doesn’t work! Also I would tell teen girls to go for whatever it is they want to achieve, but don’t be anxious because most things are a marathon and not a sprint. (That’s something my Mom tells me when I get anxious) Always D.R.E.A.M. BIG no matter what!

~The journey of one thousand miles starts with one single step~ Make sure you are doing something toward your goal everyday!

Delicious Destiny Virtual Tour with Yahrah St. John

At Last

This song is more personal in nature because of I think of myself. You see, I had been single for some time. I had gone out on so many bad dates over the years, none of which amounted to a real committed relationship. There was plenty of fun, but not a lot of substance. I’d tried meeting someone in person, through friends, clubs, online and nothing worked. I was beginning to feel like I would be single forever. So I decided to turn my negative into a positive. I wrote a book about my failed dating and relationships titled: Dirty Laundry. The book was women’s fiction and a stray from contemporary romances, but it was cathartic to write about my dating woes with a humorous twist so I could let go of the past and focus on the future. When I gave up on finding love in 2011 is when I met and fell in love with my boyfriend of almost two years. I decided to try online dating one more time and one week into trying again, I met the man would later turn out to the be the one for me. Our first date was great from the start. We had a lot in common and he was easy on the eyes. It didn’t take long for one date-to-turn to two and so on. October will mark our 2 year anniversary, but long before then I’d heaved a sigh and said…At Last….

Answer the trivia question below and be entered to win a $20 gift card to Victoria’s Secret courtesy of Yahrah!

Where did Shari and Grant meet? (name the location)
