Book Picks Of The Week - August 12 - August 18th

Are you ready to believe again?

Long Walk Up is the gripping tale of a young African girl's journey from poverty and despair to her remarkable and triumphant destiny as Africa's first woman president. Long Walk Up's orphan story happened at the same time that Liberia celebrated the swearing in of its first woman president, a woman who refused to give up faith, a woman ready to believe in her life's best.

This poignant inspirational story examines the life of a young East African orphan girl pushed into the street after her mother dies. The little girl named Mulukan is only six years old when she is left to her own defenses. Her future appears bleak, a hardened life impossible to turnaround. But, her faith, her spirit to believe, rises up for reckoning.

This emotional story takes an honest look at unforeseen life events, striking coincidences that become the threads in the fabric of an orphan child's life. Mulukan's story strikes a perfect balance between struggle and triumph. This remarkable orphan child's story searches the heart. It demands faith, real belief and individual ascension.

Readers who loved The AlchemistThe Prophet and The Audacity of Hope may fall in love with Long Walk Up. Mulukan's story is reflected around the world each day in the eyes, hearts and souls of orphan children who refuse to give up, despite how daunting, merciless and heart wrenching the path. After all, is any life worth giving up on?

Two Hearts In Love

It’s amazing how we give up on finding true love when we reach a certain age in life. Okay, so you’re set in your ways. Or you think there’s no one really out there for you. Better yet, you think you have nothing to offer because you’re not perfect at your age. Who is?

Your chance at love could be there staring you in the face, and what do you do, ignore it behind all of your foolishness. I’m on a cane, I have arthritis, going bald, overweight. Lord you name it!

Thank God, your heart has a mind of its own and led you in the right direction, to your forever love.
John Henry Randolph has been in love with Madelyn Jacobs far too long. He had given advice to his boys as to how to claim their chosen woman.

Even bragged about him setting the groundwork to claim his. He found out it was easier said than done. Madelyn Jacobs was making it hard for him because of valid reasons, she thought.
Nevertheless, the heart wants what the heart wants, and eventually will have its way.

Under ordinary circumstances, it is the norm for the birth of a child to be a welcomed and blessed occasion to the mother. But the conception and birth of baby Megan Gomez was anything but conventional. It was a ruse shrouded with deceptiveness from the beginning to the very end. Rosa Gomez, her mother, was a self-absorbed young woman who thought nothing about the consequences of the destructive paths she cultivated, pursuing a life of pleasure. As a restless young girl, Rosa made known her aspirations of marrying someone who could give her anything she wanted and was determined to reach that goal by any means necessary. Unfortunately, during her ambitious plan, her daughter Megan, became a sacrificial lamb, setting in motion a life, struggling for identity, acceptance, and love.
