FEATURED AUTHOR: Sherrod Tunstall

I am a St. Louis, MO native and an Amazon Bestselling author of Spicy. From a young age, I have always had a big imagination and loved to create worlds where I can make the rules. I started writing short stories at the age of 12, and when my mother saw my writing, she encouraged me to continue in my craft. At the age of 21, I penned my first novel, Spicy, which is inspired by my job, family, and friends from 2008-2009.  Spicy’s publishing debut was on November 23 2013 and a dream come true. In October 2014 I released The Show Me State and October 2015 Black Reign. On November 20, 2016 I self-published my first short story, You Now Have Entered The World of… My goals in life are to see one of my books on the New York Times Bestsellers list.

How can readers get in contact with you?

Readers can reach me at sherrodt05@yahoo.com. IG & Twitter: sherroddaauthor, FB: sherrodtheauthor. Website is coming soon.

What would you like readers to take away from your book?

What I would like readers to take from my book is that if anything sounds too could to be true it is.

What did you learn while writing this book?

That I can go deeper with my stories as a writer.

What did you hope to accomplish with this book?

That I’ve shown my growth as an author.

Which character did you have the most fun writing about?

Brad Carter. Because he is a big man like myself and you don’t find too many books about big men.

What do you believe makes your stories stand out?

That I stepped out of my comfort zone, with more flavor, culture and another part of the world in my story.

What do you do when your book isn’t selling?

Think of better ways to hustle my book out there. For example, every now and then I will do a book giveaway. It’s another way to get readers.

Beside yourself, what male author would you recommend SORMAG readers check out.

My brother Jeffery Roshell.

Who was the first author you ever met?

Bestselling author, Keisha Ervin of the Chyna Black series back in 2009.

How can we get more young men interested in writing and reading books?

Keep talking them. Mentor and encourage them to let all their feelings out.

What’s the most interesting change in your life as a result of being a published author?

Some people know me and say, ‘Hey aren’t you an author?’ I say, ‘Yes, I am.’ They say, ‘I read your book and loved it.’ Always bring a smile to my face.

What has surprised you most about being a published author?

That the book industry is changing everyday.

What about writing do you wish non-writers would understand?

That it’s not easy writing a book. It takes so much out of you mentally and emotionally.

Can you give us one do and one don't for those aspiring to be an author?

The Do I will give to an aspiring author is research, research and research. Learn as much about the literary world as possible. The Don’t is don’t sign any contract have an attorney look over it first.

When you're not writing, what do you like to do in your spare time?

Go to the movies, try to workout, read, and hang out with friends and family.

Oprah always asks, what do you know for sure?

That I’m so blessed to do what I love to do.

Any last words for our readers?

Keep reading because the more you read the more you’ll know. Also look out for my new titles coming in 2020.

Brad Carter is down on his luck. He loses his job, catches his woman in bed with another man, and he’s days away from being booted out of his home. Wanting to get away from his problems, Brad and his boys go to a nightclub, where they meet a wealthy stranger who offers them each $50,000 to go to Rio de Janeiro and traffic cocaine back to the U.S.

They jump at the opportunity and have the time of their lives in Rio, but when it’s time to return to the U.S. with the drugs, all hell breaks loose. Brad and his friends are caught and being in jail is not anything they could have imagined. With the help of a fellow prisoner with powerful connections, they plan an escape.

Brad is determined to find his way back to the U.S., but not without Diamond, the beautiful woman he met before things went awry in Rio. Can he rescue her from the clutches of Armand, the sick crime boss who’s been holding her captive for years? He soon discovers that the web of criminal connections between Armand, his wife, and his associates are deep and dangerous. With the obstacles he faces, Brad’s journey to freedom may be impossible.
